The big telescope tower at Tartu Observatory is open for visitors during the summer
The tower of the Tartu Observatory's large telescope is open
during the summer period ( from June 26 to August 31)
from Wednesday to Sunday from 12 to 16.
The tower visit costs 6 euros (free for preschoolers). Tickets can be purchased at the Stellaarium on the second floor of the tower. There are souvenirs and ice cream for sale.
- Tartu Observatory park is open at any time and free of charge.
- In and around the Observatory Park you will also find the MOBO mobile orienteering course. Download the MOBO app and search for "Tõravere Tartu Observatooriumi püsirada". You can read more about MOBO or mobile orienteering here.
- In the small telescope tower, located on the left hand side of the road leading to the large telescope tower, a science-fictional spatial installation “2074” by Karel Koplimets is open for visiting. The installation is part of the project "ArCo3 – Artists in Collections, Communities, and Collectives" belonging to the Tartu2024 European Capital of Culture program
NB! Trainings will continue to take place only by prior arrangement.
The researchers workspaces are located in the main building of the Tartu observatory, and the main building is closed to visitors.
