The University of Tartu among with the Earth science network Baltic Earth will hold a Remote Sensing Advanced Training School "Applications of Remote Sensing in the Baltic Sea region" on September 15–20, 2019 in Võru County at the Kubija SPA center.
33 students and junior research fellows from the field of natural sciences take part of the training school. Lectures are given and practical works supervised by internationally recognized experts and researchers.
The lecture and group topics of the training school are
- Atmosphere;
- Sea-Land Biogeochemical linkages;
- Sea level and waves;
- Forest fires;
- Agriculture.
The main goals of the Training School are
- to bring together young researchers in the field of Remote Sensing/Earth Observation from different countries surrounding the Baltic Sea;
- to offer early stage scientists hands-on training in a relaxed informal atmosphere;
- to provide young scientists with new perspectives and inspirations for their own projects;
- to have renowned keynote speakers give insights into current hot topics in the area.

The training school is organized by the UT Tartu Observatory and Institute of Physics amontg with the TalTech Department of Marine Systems and the Estonian University of Life Sciences Institute of Forestry and Rural Engineering.
