Development
Space Technology has been developed at Tartu Observatory since the second half of the 20th century. Almost every former Soviet Union orbital station had devices that had been developed at Tartu Observatory.
Now, we are the partners of the European Space Agency and through many joint projects innovative devices are made. These devices help us understand processes and conditions both in space and on Earth. For example, Estonia's first satellite ESTCube-1 was made in the laboratories of Tartu Observatory. As the space center of Estonia, we keep the necessary knowledge and experiences for developing space technology.
In co-operation with universities and research institutes in both Estonia and elsewhere, we offer Estonian enterprises support in their development process with our knowledge and infrastructure.
