How to get here when you are in Estonia

Public transportation

If you want to use public transportation, we suggest taking an hourly bus from Tartu to Elva, which stops in Tõravere stop on a road, about 15 min walking distance from the main building. Some buses are coming up to the hill as well. The bus trip will take about 30-45 min from Tartu to Tõravere, depending on the bus route.

You can get to Tõravere also by train. Train stop is in 15 minute walk away.

Car and bicycle

If you are coming by car, you have to notice a sign "Tõravere, observatoorium" on the Jõhvi-Tartu-Valga road (E264). Coming from Tartu direction, turn to the right, coming from Elva direction turn tothe left, and drive to the main building in the top of the hill. By car, it takes less than 30 min to get from Tartu to Tõravere, depending on the starting point.

Parking

You can park your vehicle in the parking place on the left side behind the main building at the entrance of the visitor centre.

Welcome to Tartu Observatory!
