Excursions on Tartu Observatory

You can visit Tartu Observatory and participate in excursions only by pre-registering. Excursions are available on weekdays, and a minimum of 10 people.

The outdoor area is open to everyone at any time.

Excursion

During the tour, you will visit the Stellarium, the large telescope tower, outdoor attractions and the space technology exhibition in the observatory's main building.

  • €6 per person
  • The group size must be at least 10 people
  • Workdays from 9AM – 5PM 
  • Usually takes about 2 hours
  • You can buy prints and souvenirs at the Stellarium.

Excursion + workshop

In addition, you can choose either a Galilean telescope crafting (up to 26 people) or a star map drawing workshop.

  • €9 per person
  • The group size must be at least 10 people
  • Workdays from 9AM – 5PM 
  • Usually takes about 3 hours
  • You can buy prints and souvenirs at the Stellarium

Orienteering

There is an orienteering track in the courtyard of the Tartu Observatory. It can be completed independently with the help of a map, taking approximately half an hour.

In addition, in Tõravere, there is a Adventure track for families.

Estonian space centre in Tõravere

Tartu Observatory is an Estonian space centre whose main task is research and development. We train young scientists in astronomy, remote sensing, and space technology.
