Learn to write space-related projects in Riga

From November 8–9, a proposal writing workshop for space projects will take place in Riga. Participants will receive practical advice on how to fund projects that are directly or indirectly connected to space. There will also be an opportunity to ask experts for feedback on specific project ideas and proposals.

On the first day of the event, Horizon 2020, Interreg, and European Space Agency (ESA) funding alongside with crowdfunding and Latvian funding schemes will be introduced. The second day of the event is dedicated to practical proposal writing, including tips for writing a successful project and individual feedback from experts.

Registration for the event is free of charge and participants travelling from Estonia may apply for reimbursement of travel expenses up to 35 euros.

The proposal writing workshop is organized by the University of Tartu, sTARTUp HUB, Heliocentric Technologies Latvia and Ventspils University College as a part of the European Regional Development Fund Interreg Estonia-Latvia Programme SpaceTEM project. Performers and Project Writing Consultants of the Event

Hector Charles Pagan is Head of the Project Writing team of the UT Grant Office and Teacher of Public Administration at the University of Tartu. He has almost 20 years of experience in fundraising and project management. Hector has also been consulting the Tartu Women's Shelter on fundraising since 2013. At the workshop, Hector will present Horizon 2020 and other EU funding programmes. On the second day of the event, he will lead the proposal writing workshop. Hector will provide individual feedback on project ideas and give advice for improving project proposals.

Aleksejs Korņevs is the deputy director of the Technology Department and Head of Technology transfer division of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA). He will present the LIAA innovation support measures. During his talk you will find how to get support for your business, create a company, develop a product, and go global.

Kadri Bussov is the CEO of the Estonian Student Satellite Foundation (ESTCube). She has helped fundraise for the development of the ESTCube-2 satellite, for example through a crowdfunding campaign that raised over 38 000 EUR, breaking all previous records on the Estonian crowdfunding platform Hooandja. Kadri also has experience using the Enterprise Estonia (EAS) development voucher for development of satellite cameras. As the leader of a technologically challenging project, Kadri has met several obstacles on the way of development and will share her lessons learned with the audience.

Lev Lapkis from RD ALFA Microelectronics will share the company’s expensive knowledge about successful cooperation with the European Space Agency (ESA) and speak about how different funding schemes have grown business for RD Alfa.
