Study for the use of remote sensing data for public services started

A new remote sensing data project, RITA KAUGSEIRE, has been kicked off. The goal of the project is to find ways to use remote sensing data for the elaboration and development of public services. The two-year study is carried out by a consortium led by Tartu Observatory. The results will be implemented by multiple ministries to create and develop services in their fields.

The project will study possibilities to use remote sensing in case of wildfires and floods as well as for monitoring water levels and agricultural land, and planning and supervising construction activities.

With the support of the RITA KAUGSEIRE project, an international remote sensing training school in Kubija, Võru County will be held in September. At the training school, young researchers and renowned experts from around the world will meet to discuss making the life of the Baltic Sea area better by using remote sensing.
