Tartu Observatory's Director Elections Announced
By the order of the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Tartu Observatory's director elections were announced on January 6, 2020.
The elections take place in accordance with clauses 16 and 17 of the observatory's statute.
- The director is elected for three years by the institute's council by a secret ballot. The director can be elected from among the employees of the institute with a doctoral degree or corresponding qualification.
- Candidates can be submitted by the dean, at least five academic employees of the institute jointly, and the student repesentatives in the Faculty of Science and Technology.
- The names of the candidates together with a written consent by the candidate will be submitted to the assistant of the institute. The submissions are due January 20, 2020 at 5 p.m. The names of the candidates will be made public on January 21, 2020.
- The director will be elected at the institute's council's meeting on January 28, 2020.
- The elected director will take office on April 1, 2020.
All of the publicly announced candidates are asked to submit a written vision of Tartu Observatory's development for the following three years to the assistant no later than on January 26, 2020. Meeting with the candidates and an open discussion with all of the observatory's employees will take place before the secret ballot at January 28, 2020 at 1 p.m. in in the main building of Tartu Observatory in Tõravere.
