Preliminary results of the International Student Barometer (ISB) show that international students are satisfied with their studies at the University of Tartu. They highlight strong academic quality, supportive learning conditions and the city of Tartu as an excellent living environment.

Junior researcher at Tartu Observatory, Anni Kasikov, was given an extraordinary opportunity through the European Southern Observatory’s (ESO) PhD programme – to spend a year in Chile and work at one of the world’s largest observatories.

Doctoral studies offer the chance to become an expert in a narrow field while also developing the skills of making connections and the ability to process information, manage challenging projects, learn from criticism, and, at the same time, manage time efficiently.

On 11 February, the University of Tartu Library hosts the Estonian Doctoral School’s career conference “The value of a doctoral degree on the job market” where top professionals with a doctoral degree and current doctoral students discuss the added value of doctoral studies.

On 4 November, recipients of Tartu Observatory scholarship, junior researchers Anni Kasikov, Rando Avarmaa and Alice Fabbretto, presented their research.

The mentoring programme will be held again this autumn semester, welcoming students, alumni and university staff to apply until 23 September.

On 13 November, recipients of Tartu Observatory scholarship, doctoral students Jad-Alexandru Mansour, Ric Dengel and Ian-Andreas Rahn, presented their research at the institute’s seminar.
