Barlova Science Night. On the Elusive Nature and Transformation of Values
28.04.2025 at 19.00
Barlova (Tähe 29, Tartu)
On April 28, the guest at the Barlova Science Night will be Andu Rämmer, Associate Professor of Youth Studies at the University of Tartu, with whom we will discuss the factors that shape our values and the study of values.
Values are emotionally charged convictions for which people are willing to stand. Often, our judgments of actions, people, and events are based on these values without us even realizing it. The values developed during the transition from youth to adulthood tend to persist later in life, changing mainly as society evolves. At the science night, social psychologist Andu Rämmer will talk about the factors that shape values, the study of values, and how Estonian values compare on an international level. He will also provide an in-depth look at the changes in young people's values.
The evening will feature musical interludes by the Tartu Observatory band.
These monthly discussions are organized by Tartu Observatory.
